Practice in Each SubjectClick on these links to take you to resources, games, and activities that will help you practice in each subject area. Make sure you also check out the enVisions Math link here or on the Forbuss website. This link is to our current math textbook and video lessons. Students will use their student ID number as their User Name and Password to log-in. You may also go to the Accelerated Reader Home Connect link to check whether books are in the AR program, their reading level, and their point value. You may also check your child's progress toward his/her reading goal by viewing their test history. (Note that this link is temporarily down.) |

ReadingReading logs are sent home on Mondays and are due every Friday with 20 minutes of reading per night. Books must be from the Accelerated Reader list of books so that students can take an AR test when they have finished their book. Reading logs must be completely filled out with the AR level of the book, minutes read, pages read, and their current reading level. Reading logs will be recorded for a homework grade in reading. Reading logs must be signed by a parent if they are make-ups from previous weeks. Book Clubs have begun with weekly reading assignments. Story Maps are due each week on the last day of the week. Students use a Story Map to identify the narrative elements of the assignment and to record and learn new vocabulary words. Click on Book Clubs to get a list of the weekly assignments and click on Story Maps to get a copy of the worksheet due each week. |

SpellingWe use Words Their Way for our spelling. Students get words based upon their level of spelling on Mondays, along with a Spelling Contract. The Contract includes a list of about 10 different activities that students can choose from. A different activity should be completed Mondays through Thursdays and attached to the Contract for turning in on Fridays. (This Contract is copied on the other side of the Reading Log.) Students need to know their spelling words AND their sort category for their test on Fridays. The sort categories help students to identify the spelling rule related to each word and to remember how to spell the word (and related words) in the future. Spelling groups may include students working on Letter-Name relationships, WithinWord patterns, Syllables and Affixes patterns, or Derivational Relationships. Groups will be assigned soon and spelling words will be posted here weekly when we begin. |
